Your premium fuel delivery service for Gloucestershire

Heating Oil Delivery in Gloucestershire

Kinch Fuels is a family-run fuel supplier, trading since 1971, and south Gloucestershire is part of our regular delivery round. Our depot at Minety, near Malmesbury, sits just over the Wiltshire border. That puts Cirencester, Tetbury and the South Cotswold villages a short run from our yard, so your oil comes from a local supplier rather than a regional hub.

We deliver standard heating oil (kerosene) and premium kerosene for boilers and range cookers, along with red diesel, road diesel and lubricants for farms and businesses. Get an instant heating oil quote for your postcode using the form on this page, or call 01666 862 100 to speak to our team in Minety.

Where We Deliver Heating Oil in Gloucestershire

Our Gloucestershire round covers the south of the county, the part closest to our depot. Regular delivery areas include:

Cirencester and the Cotswold Water Park (GL7)

Cirencester, South Cerney, Kempsford and Lechlade are all on our regular round. Many homes around the Cotswold Water Park sit close to lakes and watercourses, so it's worth making sure your tank meets the storage rules covered further down this page.

Tetbury and the South Cotswolds (GL8)

Tetbury and its surrounding villages are among the closest parts of Gloucestershire to our Minety depot. Plenty of properties here are stone cottages on narrow lanes, which is why we run smaller tankers as well as full-size ones.

Wotton-under-Edge and Chipping Sodbury (GL12 and BS37)

On the south-western side of the Cotswolds, we deliver to Wooton under Edge, Chipping Sodbury, and the villages in between.

If your village isn't listed, enter your postcode in the quote form or give us a call and we'll let you know whether we can deliver.

Domestic Heating Oil for Gloucestershire Homes

Most oil-fired boilers run on kerosene, also known as 28-second oil, burning oil or heating oil (grade BS 2869 Class C2). It's the standard fuel for homes off the gas grid, which includes a large share of the villages and farmhouses in rural Gloucestershire.
We deliver by road tanker, and the driver takes pump readings before and after filling so you know exactly how many litres went into your tank. For more on the fuel itself, see our Domestic Heating Oil page.

Standard or premium kerosene?

Standard kerosene suits most boilers. Premium Kerosene contains additives that help keep the burner, fuel lines and tank cleaner. It's often recommended for Agas and range cookers, which you'll find in plenty of Cotswold farmhouses.

Tankers for narrow lanes and tricky access

Not every Gloucestershire property can take a full-size tanker. Along with our standard six-wheeler, we run a smaller 12-tonne four-wheeler and a 7.5-tonne mini tanker. Where the tank can't be reached from the road, such as behind a terraced cottage in Cirencester or Tetbury, we can arrange through-house delivery. Tell us about access when you order and we'll send the right vehicle.

Heating Oil Prices in Gloucestershire

Heating oil prices change daily. They follow the crude oil market and the value of the pound against the dollar, and they usually rise when cold weather pushes up demand across the country. The price you pay also depends on how much you order and where you live. Our guide to what affects heating oil prices explains this in more detail.

For today's price at your address, use the instant quote form or call 01666 862 100. A few ways Gloucestershire customers keep costs down:

  • Order before the winter rush. Demand, and often prices, climb from October onwards.
  • Take a larger delivery when your tank has room, as bigger orders usually cost less per litre.
  • Have your boiler serviced once a year so it isn't burning more oil than it needs to.

Paying for Your Oil and Staying Topped Up

You can pay by card, direct debit or bank transfer, and account customers can pay invoices online.

If you'd rather not keep watching your gauge, apply for our free Top Up scheme. We schedule deliveries based on how much oil you use, and Top Up customers get priority if fuel supplies are ever disrupted. Deliveries are charged at the price on the day, and it's still worth checking your tank now and then. Application forms and the scheme rules are on our downloads page.

Fuel for Farms and Businesses in Gloucestershire

Alongside home heating oil, we supply Gloucestershire farms, estates and businesses with:

  • Red diesel (gas oil) for tractors, farm machinery and other permitted off-road use. Kinch Fuel Oils Ltd is approved by HMRC as a registered dealer in controlled oil.
  • Ultra low sulphur diesel (ULSD) for road vehicles, fleets and machinery that can no longer run on red diesel.
  • Lubricant oils and greases for vehicles, machinery and agricultural equipment.

Business customers can apply for a credit account. Call us to set one up or to arrange regular deliveries.

Looking After Your Oil Tank

A well-kept tank protects your heating and the local environment. The Cotswolds has plenty of springs, streams and boreholes, so the storage rules matter here.

  • Check your gauge regularly and reorder at around a quarter full. That leaves time for delivery, especially in winter.
  • Keep the fill point clear of plants and clutter so our driver can reach it.
  • Tanks holding more than 2,500 litres, or sited within 10 metres of a stream, river or pond, or 50 metres of a well, spring or borehole, need secondary containment (a bunded tank).
  • Book an annual tank and boiler check with an OFTEC-registered engineer.

The free guide Get to Know Your Oil Tank (PDF) walks you through the checks.

Your Questions Answered

Which parts of Gloucestershire do you deliver heating oil to?

We deliver across the south of the county, including Cirencester, South Cerney, Kempsford, Lechlade, Tetbury, Wotton-under-Edge and Chipping Sodbury, along with the villages around them. If you live further north, enter your postcode in our quote form or call 01666 862 100 and we'll tell you whether we can reach you.

How much does heating oil cost in Gloucestershire today?

The price changes daily with the oil market, and your quote also depends on how many litres you order. For an exact price at your address, use our instant quote form or call the office. Ordering outside the winter peak and taking a larger delivery are the two simplest ways to bring the price per litre down.

How long will my heating oil delivery take?

We'll give you a delivery date for your postcode when you order. Deliveries take longer in the coldest weeks of winter, when every supplier is busy, so it's best to reorder when your tank is about a quarter full. If you've run out completely, call us and ask about emergency delivery.

Can your tanker get down a narrow Cotswold lane?

In most cases, yes. As well as a standard six-wheel tanker, we have a smaller 12-tonne four-wheeler and a 7.5-tonne mini tanker for tight lanes and low bridges. If your tank can only be reached through the house, we can arrange through-house delivery. Let us know about any access issues when you order.

Does my oil tank need to be bunded?

It depends on the size of the tank and where it sits. The main triggers for secondary containment on a domestic tank are a capacity over 2,500 litres, or a position within 10 metres of a stream, river or pond, or within 50 metres of a well, spring or borehole. With so many springs and watercourses in the Cotswolds, it's worth asking an OFTEC-registered technician to check your installation.

Can I have heating oil delivered automatically?

Yes. Our free Top Up scheme lets us schedule deliveries based on your usage, so you're not relying on remembering to check the gauge. Top Up customers get priority if fuel supplies are ever disrupted. Deliveries are charged at the price on the day, and you'll need to keep your tank accessible. The application form is on our downloads page.

Should I use premium kerosene in my Aga or range cooker?

Premium kerosene is often recommended for Agas and range cookers because its additives help keep the burner clean and reduce sludge in the tank. For most standard boilers, regular kerosene does the job. Our team can advise when you order.

Do you deliver red diesel and diesel to farms in Gloucestershire?

Yes. We supply red diesel (gas oil) for agricultural and other permitted off-road use, ultra low sulphur diesel for road vehicles and machinery, and lubricant oils and greases. Kinch Fuel Oils Ltd is approved by HMRC as a registered dealer in controlled oil, and business customers can apply for a credit account.
